the assorted assertions of sound
Exhale
the vibrant reverberations into verbs
Here, the stage sets and vibrates with liberal voices
Say, do you see us, face up, flown, fearless?
Where rage translates into lyrics spat,
This is our scene, the language of a bellowing activist;
an intimate tie with Rhythm and Bass, a buzzing haze
spins us as much as the whirling dance of lights
sets the scene as Drums scream a refrain from behind
listen to the fronting represent, rising to utter
of these loud efforts spent day to day
all unjustified when art and artists go further, unpaid;
Fund the arts, love the arts!—calls of storytellers
live and recorded voices, can’t go by just penny and cent
But compensated, remunerated, honored in just recompense
Next is the legend of a leading man and a band
in a 2 A.M. set, springing hopeful melancholy
in verses known from the roots of local sound and song
The community frenzies six two hundred times and more:
a collective scene of passion and sound
Singing stories unreleased, releasing stories found
Shoulder to shoulder, back to back—
Jumping heads bang upfront, rocking closer and closer to the stage.
2000’s noise springs the crowd to jump and fly
we’ve protruded to each road and sunrise
with cables entangled in our veins, twisting, struggling,
striving
Written in meaningful abundant schemes
songs formed radically to move and inspire,
pass the torch to the art-breathers of tomorrow
Varying faces and clothes, our shades urge respect
same limbs and souls, we are oppressed the same.
Humanity fights in unending infinity spirals—a motion never to stop
Our voices attached in conviction and cause
Our aggression looks to the powerful seated who had so much to take
who plundered the nation that cried in refrain
Loud thump of people, shaking brave in protest
true power rests on those whose sounds call out the wicked
The advocacies of a local mosh thrash in spirited intervals, eager intentions
Raging
in purpose, loud colorful expression—
Posers in power,
